OVERNIGHT # 33 MESQUITE NV. / VIRGIN RIVER CANYON RECREATION AREA

Hi, Today we drove to the Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area which is located along Interstate 15 approximately 20 miles northeast of Mesquite, NV. It is accessed from the Cedar Pocket Exit
( mile post18). There are recreational opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, water play and more.

It is surrounded by two designated wilderness areas. The Paiute Wilderness east of Intestate 15, and Beaver Dam Mountains Wilderness to the west. The Sullivan Canyon Trail starts within the recreation area and heads into the heart of the Paiute Wilderness area.

The campground and day-use areas also both have scenic trails leading to the Virgin River.

This facility has a day use area and a campground. The campground amenities include drinking water, flushing toilets, picnic table some with shade shelters, fire pit / grill.
The camping fee is $8 per site or $4 with senior pass.  14 day limit. The day use fee is $2 or free with senior pass.

We enjoyed the colorful mountain desert setting.

LAZY CAMPING MEAL: We found 2 good low carb wraps for anyone that is looking to decrease their carbohydrate intake. FlatOut which has 14 gm carb with 9gm fiber so = 5 Gm net carbs or Mission Carb Balance with 19gm carb with fiber15 gm = 4gm net carbs. These make good picnic lunches with meat, cheese and Ghee or with peanut butter.

Have a good day and night,
💕 50 + Lazy Campers

The overnight-use fee is $8 per site per night and the day-use fee is $2 per vehicle. The Upper Loop has a 14 night stay limit, where as, the Lower Loop has a single night stay limit. The recreation area currently has 25 sites only available through recreation.gov reservations. The remaining sites are first come, first serve (FF) payable by cash or by using the Scan and Pay feature on the recreation.gov app.
