OVERNIGHT # 9 RIFLE GAP STATE PARK

Image
Hi, On October 19th 2022 we camped at Rifle Gap State Park. Rifle is the closest town and the Glenwood Hot Springs is 40 miles away. The reservoir is long and narrow and enjoyed by all type of boaters and anglers.  On the west side is a beach for swimming in the summer. This park has 89 campsites. We drove around the campgrounds and found some campsites that looked good and then drove out of the park and down to where our phone had cell service and made our reservations.  Most of the state parks are on the reservation system and reservations can be made the day of or hour of arrival. Our campsite was 005 in the Cottonwood Campground. There is a trail that is right by this site and makes a loop, returning to the Cottonwood Campground. We saw a few deer in the evening. The bathrooms had flush toilets and coin operated showers.  Very nice! LAZY DAY CAMPER MEAL: We added a can of sliced potato to a can of steak and potato soup so the amount is perfect for 2 people. We ...

Hi, We camped at Vega State Park on October 18th 2022. This is a great time to camp at this state park because of the golden leaves. The scenery is beautiful morning, noon and night!  The campground was sparsely populated. The 6 cabins are open year round. Reservations are made online at Reserveamerica.com. The Meadows Group Picnic Area is so beautiful and would be a great location for a wedding or family reunion. Included here is a map of the park. We will definitely be back to stay in a cabin this winter and bring snow shoes, hot cocoa and hopefully friends and family! LAZY CAMPING MEAL: Chicke...

There are single and double family campsites and some have electricity.  Our campsite was number 19. It has a path through the woods that comes out at Mesa Lakes Day Use area.   Hi, There are so many types of camping styles such as tent camping, car camping, RV camping, cabin camping, backyard camping and now we have added B&B camping to our list. So many people have such beautiful RVs that only get used a few times a year. Why not set up a guest lodging where family can hang out in privacy while visiting.  This was the morning view while sitting on the porch drinking coffee and boosting family bonds. The accommodations were comfortable, convenient and cozy with a sidewalk right to the door and the area enclosed with fencing. Some of the possible amenities and activities included swimming, nature watching, games, Wi-Fi, dog petting, common area, kayaks and soft comfortable chairs great for rest and relaxation. One day we went to the lake with the kayaks and a picnic snacks. We had a most wonderful time with family including the newest member baby girl only one month of age. The hospitality was the best possible. Thank you Sandy and Brad.  H...
