OVERNIGHT # 8 VEGA STATE PARK

Hi, We camped at Vega State Park on October 18th 2022. This is a great time to camp at this state park because of the golden leaves. The scenery is beautiful morning, noon and night!  The campground was sparsely populated. We were in site 114.

Vega State Park is about 8000 feet elevation and just northeast of the Grand Mesa National Forest. It is open year round. In March it was snow covered this year. There are 109 campsites located in 4 campgrounds around the lake. Activities include fishing, hiking, bird watching. In the winter it is a good place to snowshoe, cross country ski and snowmobile. The 6 cabins are open year round. Reservations are made online at Reserveamerica.com. The Meadows Group Picnic Area is so beautiful and would be a great location for a wedding or family reunion. Included here is a map of the park.

We will definitely be back to stay in a cabin this winter and bring snow shoes, hot cocoa and hopefully friends and family!
