PLACE 1 Wild Horse Range

 Hi,

This is day 1 of our 50 places in 60 days. Since our 50th anniversary is coming up soon, we decided to celebrate by visiting 50 places in Colorado that we haven't explored yet.

We also want to share a lazy camping idea in each post.

We visited a wild horse range that is close to Grand Junction, Co.

Bookcliffs Wildhorse Range is 1 of 3 ranges in U.S. set aside to protect wild horses.

Directions: I-70, exit 45 and go north 1.5 mile. Bear right at the fork to enter the Coal Canyon trail head. There was major road construction so be ready for some detours. The road turns to dirt after about one mile and there are a few shallow wash outs to go through.

We never saw any wild horses today but there were signs that they had been in this area.

There is a map display and a vault toilet in the parking lot.

This area has other trails other than the Coal Canyon Trail.

We enjoyed our time here. Next time we would bring binoculars and a picnic lunch.

LAZY CAMPING: This macaroni works well to add boiling water and wait 3 minutes.

Have a wonderful day and night.
