OVERNIGHT 1: Saddlehorn Campground
Hi, We finished our 50 Colorado places to explore in 60 days in celebration of our 50th Anniversary. Now we are going to camp or stay in a lodging 50 times, beginning now and to complete by the end of our 50th year together for the purpose of more exploration of this wonderful country. We picked Saddlehorn campground because it is a good place to see the lunar eclipse on May 15th 2022 We watched the total eclipse from beginning to end. The weather was comfortable and the view from our campsite was perfect.

Saddlehorn Campground is 4 miles from the west (Fruita) entrance of the Colorado National Monument. It is located in an area of pinyon pine and Utah juniper trees, and is within walking distance to the visitor center. Sites cost $22 a night or $11 with a senior pass. Loop A is open year round. Reservations can be made for A and B loops from mid-March through October on recreation.gov. There are flush toilets, but no hookups or dump station. Each site has a picnic table and charcoal grill, no wood fires allowed. RV length limit is 40 feet. C-Loop is limited to tent camping and those in small vehicles such as single vehicles with top mounted camper shells or tents, and small vans or small RVs which are under 20 feet in length. C-Loop is first come first served basis. Generators are not allowed at any time in Loop C.
C-Loop is our favorite. Our site was 65. We car camped since it was a single night campout. The view was so pretty. The chairs in the picture are Nice C chairs and were great for lunar eclipse sky watching. We thank our Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Lenny for the chairs.
LAZY CAMPING: We brought this pulled pork and heated it in aluminum pans in a camp skillet with boiling water around the pans until warmed through. No mess clean up, when you just discard the aluminum pans after the meal. We served the pulled pork on small buns with shredded cabbage and provolone cheese.💕 50+ Lazy Campers
