PLACE 25 Canyon of the Ancients National Monument
Hi, The Escalante Pueblo is the only developed recreation site within the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument open to the public year round. We enjoyed the walk which is a wheelchair accessible trail which leads visitor around the main Great House and the Great Kiva.
Along the half mile up there are more than 10 interpretive signs about the vegetation of the area.
The construction of McPhee in the Dolores River Valley was completed in 1985. The McPhee Reservoir can be seen from the top of the trail to the Lowry Pueblo.
Great weather, views, and historical information were enjoyed. We highly recommend this trip of exploration for everyone.
LAZY CAMPING : Keep the basic camping items in the car top carrier and ready to go on a moments notice. ( we thank Sandy and Brad for this wonderful item)
