PLACE 27 Colorado Trail at Durango

Hi,   1974 is considered the birth year of the Colorado Trail. This long distance trail goes from the Denver area to Durango. It passes through 6 national forest, 6 wilderness areas and transverses 5 major rivers. Thousands of volunteers are credited with the development of this trail. Volunteers in collaboration with the US Forest Service maintain the trail. We spent some time walking and exploring the trail at the Durango trail head section.

Directions: US 550 (Main Ave) head north in Durango, left on 25th St (becomes Junction Creek Rd / CR 204). In 2.9mile the road forks, stay left. In 1/2 mile you will see Junction Creek Trailhead and a small parking lot on the left side of the road.

More information about this trail can be found at coloradotrail.org

LAZY CAMPING: Some campgrounds don't have any light after dark so we take a couple of our solar yard lights to put at our camp site so its easier to locate if anyone needs to go the outhouse during the night.

Have a good day and night,
