PLACE 29 Sambrito Trail, Summit Reservoir State Wildlife Area & Yellow Car Country Wines
Hi, Sambrito Trail is through part of the 100 acres set aside to improve wildlife habitat. Wetlands are important to every species of wildlife. The wind and weather sure ruined the interpretive signs that were once along the trail. Hwy 151 at MM 13 and south on CR 988 is how we got to this trail.
Next we went to Summit Reservoir State Wildlife Area which is 9 miles NW from Mancos on Hwy 184. Ponderosa pines cover the north end of the property with some willows along the banks of the reservoir. The inlet is from Lost Canyon Creek. This would be a good place for fishing on the shoreline.
Because we are members of Harvest Host and Boondockers Welcome, we decide to check out one of their locations close to Cortez. I should explain that Harvest Host are locals who invite RVers to park on their property, shares stories and get a good night sleep.
Yellow Car Country Wines is at 1345 s. Broadway on the frontage road. They have what looks like an amazing patio for sampling their wines. The web site tells how Jean and Jim Wooton started the company and some of their interesting life history and the reason for the name of this winery.

We will definitely be staying here sometime in the future.LAZY CAMPING: Boiling water can be added to these potato bowls and some good additives are: 1/2 chopped hard boiled egg with some finely chopped ham and a sprinkle of parmesan. There are many other combinations such as pepperoni , bacon, any cheese or even vegetables.
