PLACE 32 Leadville and Top of Rockies Scenic Drive

Hi,  Our drive, Hwy 24 is part of the Top Of The Rockies Scenic Byway to Leadville and then on to Minturn. We saw high snowy peaks and crossed the Tennessee Pass. This journey took us by Camp Hale, a former training ground for the Army's 10th Mountain Division where soldiers learned mountain climbing, alpine and Nordic skiing and cold weather survival.

Leadville is the highest incorporated city in US. It is a former silver mining town. There are many historic structures.

Our picnic location was at the community park on w. 6Th. The view was outstanding.

Our travels took us to Eagle Co. to see a huge herd of elk.

The whole scenic drive, Top of The Rockies isn't open this time of year but if it was and if we drove the whole section then we would cross the Continental Divide three times!

LAZY CAMPING: For easier pan clean up after cooking, we wipe as much off of pan as we can with baby wipes and then when we use the soap and water, it takes less water to complete the clean up.

Have a great day and night,
💕 50+ Lazy Campers
