PLACE 34 Sweitzer Lake State Park and Ridgeway State Park (yurt)

Hi, We had a car picnic at Sweitzer Lake State Park on the south side of the lake. This park is a day use area. My state park book describes it as an oasis on the edge of the desert. The views from the park are the San Juan Mountains and the Grand Mesa.

Our final destination was a yurt at Ridgeway State Park which we had for 2 nights. Our daughter, her fiance and our dog went on this trip with us.

The inside will sleep 6 people so we used the bunk beds to put our travel bags and games that we brought.

The weather wasn't very good so we did our cooking in the microwave when we were at the yurt.

The skylight made it nice to see the clouds & weather.

There are 16 miles of trails in this state park and lots of deer and pretty birds.

It was a very fun time to all share a yurt, play board games, explore some of the trails and see the wildlife.

LAZY CAMPING:  There are several ways to make easy S'mores and one way is to take a cinnamon graham cracker and spread on marshmallow cream and nutella hazelnut paste.

Have a great day and night,

  1. I love the idea of the yurt! It would be a lot of fun if you just wanted to go for a night or two and not bring the travel trailer.
