PLACE 36 Glade Park & DS Road

Hi,  Today we went looking for Ela Natural Bridge. A google search for Ela Natural Bridge will show a better picture than the one we took.

We found a second natural arch, natural bridge but don't know if it has a name.

These were both seen from DS road past Glade Park. Glade Park is a town of about 2000 population. There are 3 roads to this town and they all wind through sand rock with switchback and great views. Glade Park is surrounded by public land natural wonders: Colorado National Monument, Pinon Mesa, McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area.  Every summer on Fridays, the Glade Park Volunteer Fire Department (GPVFD) shows outdoor movies "Movies Under the Stars". They also run a grill and concession stand. Since the movie is free, the profits from the grill and concession stand are a fund raiser for the GPVFD. The Glade Park Store is the only place for staples in this area.

Coates Creek Schoolhouse was a one room log schoolhouse from 1919. It is Mesa County's only surviving rural school house of log construction. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The address is 3791 DS Rd. Glade Park, Co 81523.

It was a good afternoon, seeing the sights on DS  Road.

LAZY CAMPING:  A good night cap is instant hot cocoa and Peppermint snaps. Yum!

Have a good day and night,
