PLACE 38 Silt
Hi, The town of Silt is described as "The Gateway to Outdoors". They have 13 parks on 13 acres, a 30 acres island park and a conservation easement river preserve of 132 acres. The preserve is used for agriculture, wildlife, outdoor education and recreation. The Colorado Rivers borders 1/2 mile of the preserve. We had lunch at the Silt Island Park which is the 30 acre island park.
This park also had some nice well marked trails.
Benches were provided for tired hikers or those that want to relax observe and enjoy nature and the river sounds.
This sign gives more information about Silt and Silt Island Park.
This is a nice place to stop, walk or picnic if travelling through on I-70 east or west. It would be exit 97. Take the river frontage road east and right on 16th street.
LAZY CAMPING: Bamboo Skewers that are used and then burned or discarded so no clean up. They come in different lengths depending on what they would be used for such as roasting hot dogs, marshmallows or kabobs.
