OVERNIGHT #27 DINOSAUR DIAMOND SCENIC DRIVE WEST SIDE / FRED HAYES STATE PARK CABIN

Hi, We decided to complete the Dinosaur Diamond Scenic Drive. We did the east side in Colorado but not the west side previously. The Dinosaur Diamond Prehistoric Highway National Scenic byway bridges Eastern Utah and Western Colorado with more than 500 miles of beautiful red rock scenery, rugged Book Cliffs and waters of the Colorado and Green rivers.

On the way, we explored the little town called Helper. This is a town of about 2000 people and is northwest of Price UT. The Helper Riverwalk and Spring Canyon Trail offer paved walkways to explore natural habitats from river to desert. Helper is known as one of Utah's Christmas cities  with a magical walk downtown to view the Christmas lights during the Holiday Season.

Fred Hayes State Park is at Old Hwy 40, Duchesne UT. This time of year the park is snow packed. The Starvation Reservoir is frozen about 10 inches deep. The cabins overlook the frozen reservoir.

Returning to Helper Utah during the Christmas season is on our to do list.

LAZY CAMPING MEAL: Duchesne has a Burger King and if you decide to go fast food then supplement it with some vegetables. These are tasty.

Have a good day and night,

💕 50+ Lazy Campers
