OVERNIGHT # 42 GRAND MESA RV PARK

 Hi, We are in one of the cabins for 4 nights at the Grand Mesa RV Park. The address is 11674 Hwy 65, Mesa Co. They offer a year-round grocery, convenience store with diesel gasoline and propane. The Cabin rentals, showers and RV sites are also open year-round. Shane Pratt and Dena Newcomb-Pratt bought the Grand Mesa RV Park in mid-2017 Shane, Dena and Addison like living in Mesa and are so happy to be here. They will go out of their way to make your time here outstanding. One example of how they went out of their way was to provide a place on the patio for us to do a google meet with our family since WIFI is spotty in the cabins. They even turned on the heater so it would be nice and warm.


We stayed in the cabin called Mustang. It has a queen size bed, chair and table. Its comfortably heated as desired. 


The views from this resort are so pretty and peaceful.

Cooking is on an outside charcoal BBQ grill. The rule on cooking is no cooking in the cabins but they were OK for us to make coffee.


We've been doing so much driving and sight seeing that we were ready for four quiet overnights and limited driving. 

LAZY CAMPING/MICROWAVE MEAL: Tonight we charcoal grilled cheese burgers and had them on good whole grain buns with mayo and shredded cabbage. I had forgot how good a grilled hamburger could be!

PLACE 1 Wild Horse Range

  Hi,  This is day 1 of our 50 places in 60 days. Since our 50th anniversary is coming up soon, we  decided to celebrate by visiting 50 places in Colorado that we haven't explored yet. We also want to share a lazy camping idea in each post.  We visited a wild horse range that is close to Grand Junction, Co. Bookcliffs Wildhorse Range is 1 of 3 ranges in U.S. set aside to protect wild horses. Directions: I-70, exit 45 and go north 1.5 mile. Bear right at the fork to enter the Coal Canyon trail head. There was major road construction so be ready for some detours. The road turns to dirt after about one mile and there are a few shallow wash outs to go through. We never saw any wild horses today but there were signs that they had been in this area. There is a map display and a vault toilet in the parking lot.  This area has other trails other than the Coal Canyon Trail. We enjoyed our time here. OVERNIGHT # 8 VEGA STATE PARK

  Hi, We camped at Vega State Park on October 18th 2022. This is a great time to camp at this state park because of the golden leaves. The scenery is beautiful morning, noon and night!  The campground was sparsely populated. We were in site 114.  Vega State Park is about 8000 feet elevation and just northeast of the Grand Mesa National Forest. It is open year round. In March it was snow covered this year. There are 109 campsites located in 4 campgrounds around the lake. Activities include fishing, hiking, bird watching. In the winter it is a good place to snowshoe, cross country ski and snowmobile. The 6 cabins are open year round. Reservations are made online at Reserveamerica.com. The Meadows Group Picnic Area is so beautiful and would be a great location for a wedding or family reunion. OVERNIGHT #30 DINOSAUR INN & SUITES HOTEL / DINOSAUR NATIONAL MONUMENT &

  Hi, After 3 nights in a state park cabin without shower or running water, we booked a night at the Dinosaur Inn & Suites. This hotel is locally owned and operated and located in the heart of downtown Vernal Utah. They offer excellence in quality, comfort and hospitality since 1929. All rooms have WIFI, high speed internet, fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, iron and Direct TV with HBO and Cinemax. All the comforts were very appreciated! Our travels were to the Dinosaur National Monument. Our first stop was at the Quarry Visitor Center which is in Jensen, Utah. They are open all year except some holidays. We watched a 12 minute park film and then with an information packet we went exploring. This park has amphibians, birds, fish, mammals & reptiles. We were able to watch and enjoy some mule deer.
