OVERNIGHT # 26 GREEN RIVER UTAH

Image
Hi,  This overnight was at Green River Utah at Green River State Park. This state park is a shaded grassy campground in the city limits and has water and electric hookups. Modern restrooms provide showers although some are closed in the winter. We were in the parks rustic cabin which has heat, air conditioning, refrigerator, microwave, table and chairs. We pulled the futon out and made it our bed rather than sleeping on the bunked double beds. Outside there is a fire ring and picnic table. The day use area has covered picnic tables, river views and access.  Green River is known for the best melons in the world. Melon Days is an annual tradition since 1906 and attract thousand of people from all around to celebrate in September. There is a parade and the park will be full of booths and activities. For a fee, this park has access to a nine hole golf course on the banks of the Green River.  There is also a tournament level 18 hole disc golf course that can be enjoyed by professional and

OVERNIGHT #25 MARYSVALE UTAH

Image
Hi, We stayed at the Paiute Trails Inn in Marysvale Utah and we were in the triple bed vacation suite. Like Pasty Cline who went walkin after midnight in her song, we went walkin in the moonlight around Marysvale on their deserted winter streets in the evening and morning. The suite that we were in has a master bedroom, kitchen with new stainless steel appliances (including dishwasher), and family room that featured a 65 inch Smart TV with complimentary access to movies, sports and entertainment programming. The family room includes a large log bunk bed with double sized mattresses top and bottom, making room for four.  There's a nice recliner, futon couch that converts to a double bed. The kitchen is connected to the family room via a bar, complete with 4 barstools for casual dining. The spacious bathroom include a full-width shower. We really enjoyed watching an old movie, Back to the Future on the big screen! Marysvale is a town in Paiute county Utah w ith a population of arou

OVERNIGHT # 24 FREMONT INDIAN STATE PARK CABIN

Hi,  The canyon along what is now Interstate 70 near Sevier Utah, was home to one of the largest communities of Fremont Indians ever discovered. The Fremont Indian State Park and Museum is a place where you can learn about the artifacts, petroglyphs and pictographs made by the Fremont Indians between 700 and 1300 years ago. The museum houses the artifacts of a sprawling village. In 1983 it was discovered during the construction of Interstate 70. This State Park has 2 campgrounds and we were in the Sam Stowe campground. We stayed in one of their 2 cabins. Other options are 7 RV sites with full hook-ups, a group area, or a pithouse, so visitors can experience a small taste of Fremont life. Here are some pictures of the area around  our cabin.  The other campground is Castlerock Campground with 31 campsites including 2 teepees. There are more than 10 trails at this park for exploring rock art, geological formations, pinyon and juniper colored mountains or canyon views. There is a trailh

The 2 lane road State Route 1 is winding turns, seaside cliffs and views of the coastline. The region has numerous state parks for hiking, camping and beachcombing. We visited Sand Dollar State Beach. From the parking lot there is a foot path that leads to a long wooden stairway taking you to a wide sandy beach with large rocks in the surf at the south end. We never found the wooden stairway.  The picnic area is very nice and shaded. Across the street is  campground Plaskett Creek Campground. Our daughter got us a hat with a photo patch of this bridge on it as a souvenir. Bixby Canyon Bridge was completed in 1932 and is one of the highest bridges of its kind in the world.
